I’ve had a few messages come in asking how Wandering Soul is coming, so I thought I’d post an update for everyone to see. I’m so pleased and excited to hear it’s on some of your minds, it’s certainly on mine! I spent the day at Roundhead Studios in Auckland on Jan 13 (lucky Friday the 13th!), recording on their beautiful refurbished Steinway Grand Piano, Model A.

I went back in to finalize our mixes just a few days ago on Wednesday the 25th.

I have some really great-sounding music! There’s just a few more steps before I’ll be able to release it to you. Roundhead is going to do a ‘mini-mastering’ for me, and this will take a bit of time to get things just right.
On Feb 1, I have a photoshoot scheduled at that beautiful studio above with the Steinway grand in it – the inimitable photographer Alex Wallace and the delightful makeup artist/stylist Maza White will be joining me to create something lovely for the album cover of Wandering Soul. I can’t wait to share it with you – it’s going to be magical!
There are a few other housekeeping things I’m doing to get Wandering Soul ready to release. Since this is my first major release and I’m doing it independently, there’s quite a lot to figure out. Today, for instance, I’m working on the track order, which is strangely important and difficult to determine. In the afternoon, I’ll be venturing out to try and find the right thing to wear for this photoshoot. I have to admit shopping is not exactly my strong suit, so wish me luck!

With all that still needs to be done before I can submit music and art to the distributor, we’re likely looking at a release date in mid-to-late February, possibly even early March.
